Modern Canna set to enter Gainesville market

June 17, 2021

Modern Canna Labs, the cannabis quality control giant, is coming to Gainesville.

The company recently announced its plans to expand into the Alachua County seat with an 11,300 square foot laboratory this summer. The new lab is expected to help Modern Canna provide better service to Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers throughout the Sunshine State.

George Fernandez, the president of Modern Canna, explained that the move was strategic. "We understand the importance of scaling operations in such a high-demand market. This new facility gives us (Modern Canna) the ability to handle higher volumes of work while providing faster turnaround times for our Florida clients," he remarked. "We are very excited about this decision — there is a lot to like about the city of Gainesville and we can't wait to be a part of its continued growth."

The new warehouse is just the next chapter in a detailed history for Modern Canna that has spanned over half a century. The company, which is headquartered in nearby Lakeland, was the first to test medical cannabis in the state of Florida, and is currently the only Leafly Certified lab partner in the American southeast.

Now, between its facilities in Lakeland and Gainesville, the company has a combined 23,000 square feet of testing space at its disposal.
